Hosni Mubarak’s health has deteriorated rapidly since he was sent to prison on June 2. He’s now in critical condition, slipping in and out of consciousness and surviving only on liquids and yogurt, according to the Associated Press. Due to his deteriorating health, Mubarak’s wife was granted special permission to go visit her husband in prison. Yet officials denied that Mubarak is dying. “His overall condition is very bad for sure, but I cannot confirm that this means he is on his death bed,” one official tells Egypt’s Ahram Online.

Officials say preparations are being made to transfer Mubarak out of prison and into a military hospital within the next two days, reports Ahram. The former president’s family has been trying to get Mubarak transferred back to a military facility, where he could be treated by foreign doctors.
