With only days to go until the Florida presidential primary, things are getting nasty between the two men vying for the victory in the winner-take-all nominating contest.

The Washington Post was on the ground in Mount Dora, Florida, on Thursday, where Gingrich attempted to fire up a tea party crowd by repeatedly saying that Romney believes voters in the state and out of it are "stupid." By the newspaper's count, the former House speaker used that word at least a dozen times in reference to how Romney views the electorate.

"We have to ultimately focus on beating Barack Obama, but we’re not going to beat Barack Obama with some guy who has Swiss bank accounts, Caymen Island accounts, owns shares of Goldman Sachs while it forecloses on Florida and is himself a stockholder in Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac while he tries to think the rest of us are too stupid to put the dots together to understand what this is all about," Gingrich told the crowd.

Romney's camp responded with a mocking memo to reporters that accused Gingrich of turning the event into an "Occupy Mount Dora" rally against free enterprise and the private sector.
