Sarah Palin has found her way back into the headlines, this time for taking a shot at Mitt Romney surrogate Chris Christie for calling Newt Gingrich an "embarassment" to the Republican party.
On Fox Business Network on Monday night, the former GOP vice presidential nominee declared that Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, had gotten "his panties in a wad" and made a "rookie mistake" during Sunday's Meet The Press interview.
"Poor Chris," Palin said. "This was a rookie mistake. He played right into the media’s hands. The host had asked Chris, ‘Does Newt embarrass the party?’ I think he asked him twice, and there, Chris played right into it."
She continued: "You know, sometimes, if your candidate loses in just one step along this path, as was the case when Romney lost to Newt the other night [in South Carolina] — and, of course, Romney is Chris Christie’s guy — well, you kind of get your panties in a wad, and you may say things that you regret later. And I think that that’s what Chris Christie did."
While Palin hasn't officially endorsed any candidate in this year's GOP race, she urged South Carolina voters to cast their ballots in favor of Gingrich in a bid to draw out the nominating process, something she says will leave the best man standing to defeat President Obama in November's general election.
