Casino Magnate Will Reportedly Pour $20M into Pro-Gingrich Group

The campaign cash could help the GOP frontrunner weather a growing number of attacks from his rivals.

Politico's Maggie Haberman and Kenneth Vogel have the scoop on Newt Gingrich’s new financial backer:

"Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is planning to direct $20 million to an outside group backing Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign, multiple sources told POLITICO – the first answer to urgent pleas from allies to the former speaker’s long-time billionaire supporters."

An Adelson spokesman denied that the gaming tycoon has made any financial commitment to Gingrich or the super PACs supporting his White House run.

Adelson is the chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., which owns The Palazzo and The Venetian in Las Vegas, as well as casinos in Singapore and Macau.
