Watch out, Netflix, now Verizon may be comming for you.

Reuters reports that the phone company has plans to launch the latest challenge to what has been the king of the streaming movies and television.

Citing several people briefed on the plan, the news organization claims that Verizon Communications is already talking with prospective programming partners about the service, which would likely be first introduced in markets where the company currently doesn't offer its FiOS broadband and cable packages. The new venture could be rolled out as soon as next year.

Reuters with more on the wide swath of options that appear to be under consideration: "The package of programming would be limited in its scope, said two people with knowledge of the plans. Another person said the focus would be packages of movies similar to Liberty Media's Starz Play and Viacom's Epix or could involve children's programming from such a partner such as Walt Disney Co. or Viacom."
