We’re not going to pretend this is breaking news by any stretch of the imagination. That said, we don’t have the self-restraint to pass up a post about “gay barbarians,” Marcus Bachmann and what just may be the most fabulous form of protest ever: the glitter bomb.

On Thursday, Nick Espinosa (who appears to be the inventor of the glitter bomb as a sign of political protest) led a group of fellow LGBT activists calling themselves “gay barbarians” to Bachmann’s Christian counseling clinic to protest his views on homosexuality and the clinic’s work to turn gays straight.

Bachmann wasn’t on hand, although even if he would have been we doubt the end result – the aforementioned glitter bomb – would have turned out much differently, as you'll see in the video below.

(FYI: The protesters describes themselves as "gay barbarians" as a reference to comments that Bachmann reportedly made suggesting that homosexuals are “barbarians” who "need to be disciplined.")

Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich have also been targets of glitter bombs in recent months. Something tells us this isn’t going to be the last a Republican contender (or, in this case, a candidate’s spouse) is going to see this campaign season.

Here’s video of the event the group posted to YouTube:
