Meet Lexi St. George, the new Rebecca Black.
Ark Music Factory CEO Patrice Wilson, the man behind Black’s YouTube/hate-fueled success, “Friday,” unveiled his newest 14-year-old pop star on Good Morning America this week.
The four-day GMA event culminated with the premier of St. George’s “Dancing to the Rhythm” on the ABC show.
Wilson is looking to avoid the obvious Black-St. George comparisons, saying that this time he’s hoping that all those YouTube clicks are the result of, well, people actually liking his pop creation. (Good luck with that.)
"I don't want people comparing and saying she's the next Rebecca Black," he told Gawker. "With this project, it's a bit of a different thing. We wanted to make something everybody could like, whether the older or younger generation… I don't anticipate that people are going to dislike this video. I hope people give her a chance and not say I don't like ark music factory so I don't like this song."
We’ve already written more about this than we’re really comfortable with, so without further ado, here’s the video. We apologize in advance to your ears (and your cubicle mates):
