Nowhere To McHide

"Just how far away can you get from our world of generic convenience?" Stephen Von Worley wanted to know. To answer his own question, Von Worley found a list of all 13,000 McDonald's locations in the Lower 48, crunched the numbers, and posted the results (and a gorgeous, glowing map of them) on his blog. It turns out that the "McFarthest Spot" is in northwestern South Dakota, between the towns of Meadow and Glad Valley. To satisfy a Big Mac Attack from there, you'd have to fly your personal jet 107 miles. (If you're driving, it's a 145-mile trip.) The McDensest areas are, unsurprisingly, along the nation's highways.
